Nobody Can Make Us Feel Inferior Without Our Consent.

If you really put a small value upon yourself, rest assured that the world will not raise your price. As we Somalis have witnessed the Kenyan government has deliberately humiliated Somali ethnic people living in Kenya including members of Somali parliament, government officials, military gerelars and many other innocent Somalis living peacefully in various parts of that country.

What is more humiliating is that the Immigration Minister of Kenya Otieno Kajwang told the BBC that he was on the verge of telling the MPs to register as refugees if they wanted to stay in Kenya. He also said “We think they must take the security of their country seriously and not endlessly look for Kenya as a safe haven after destroying their own institutions.” “The politicians causing trouble in their country and coming to hide here and reorganize how to re-launch their positions in their trenches – it is not helpful to them and not helpful to us,” and he also said “We think they must take the security of their country seriously and not endlessly look for Kenya as a safe haven after destroying their own institutions.” “I think we are about to say that either you come in as refugees and you go the camps or you go back to your own country.”

While the minister is correct on most of those points, I think he is upset and discussed about the so called Somali MPs who are endlessly staying hotels in Nairobi year in and year out, government after government. Perhaps he wonders who pays their bills. May be he wished that he could also call himself a minister and stay in a luxury hotel throughout his government’s term while his expenses was paid by the UNDP or some other unknown agency.

While the action taken by the Kenyan government against the Somali MPs is undiplomatic and discriminatory, nevertheless it is one that fits to those so-called MPs in the hotels of Nairobi and I think it is a step taken to the right direction.

What is not right is the crackdown of Somali ethnic people. It seems that Kenyan government is waging economical war against the Somali population in the name of security operations. The Kenyan government is going around questioning the source of Somali capital with even claims that it is generated from piracy and money laundering scams, the action of Kenyan government reaffirms the recent media propaganda against the increasing Somali businesses in Kenya.

Somalis need to learn from this ongoing arrests and humiliation perpetrated against them by the Kenyan Police. It is about time we wake up, dust ourselves off and go back to our country or go to the refugee camps but no more hotels in Nairobi. Of all our infirmities, the most savage is to despise our being. Let us value ourselves or accept to be inferior without our consent.

Amazing…
The Kenyan gov has every right to speak that way..
Why would Somali mp’s stay in Kenya? they get paid to work the somali people and not spend the little money that they got on our name in Kenya.
Well done to Kenya for high lighting this trend..
